ABOUT US

Longplay Bistro is the summation of the things that we enjoy - a casual, sometimes rowdy environment in which to eat good bistro food, drink great wine and listen to records with friends and family. We wanted there to be a sense of being at a friend's house for a dinner party, a friend who happens to be a great chef, have a thoughtfully curated collection of records, and a deep cellar. We only have a single turntable, with records being played in full. We embrace the moments of silence in between sides. Our food is the unfussy, but well executed bistro food that we love to eat.

With this in mind, our wine list is very much a reflection of the bottles that we drink ourselves. Our underlying philosophy is to offer the bottles that we love to drink and share with our loved ones, while covering a range of price points and styles. As such, there is an unashamed emphasis on the wines and regions that we gravitate towards; German Riesling, red and white Burgundy and Nebbiolo from Piedmonte tend to feature heavily next to their Australian counterparts.

Our kitchen is led by Head Chef Calum Horn (with experience ranging from Barrio (Byron Bay) and Harvest (Northern Rivers) to Matt Stone's You Beauty (Bungalow) and more recently South Australia's own Summertown Aristologist). While he hails from Edinburgh, he has now made Adelaide home with his son born the same week as our bistro opened, proving he’s a man that can handle more than just the pans. Look for house made pastas, locally sourced ribeye on the bone with béarnaise, Hahndorf venison tartare, burnt eggplant with espelette pepper and cultured cream and marron with burnt butter & capers, with most dishes incorporating open coal cooking.

Sounds at the bistro are curated by Lenin Paunovic, bringing you a vinyl LP only soundtrack courtesy of a Funktion One sound system and custom built sound insulation for the best possible experience.
